New Season: Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Something new is spinning up. A fresh web of cards, locations, and events is dropping into MARVEL SNAP, and there’s plenty to crawl through across the month. New faces, and some familiar ones, are joining the roster; two unique locations are joining SNAP as well, and a full calendar of events means there’s always something brand new to do in this season.

Hyper Cube Rush is coming on July 13th and will last until the 15th at server reset. As long as Hyper Cube Rush lasts, you get bonus cubes until you run out of them! In other words, this is just 20 free cubes that you can get while the event is running. Every win you get, until the Hyper Cube Rush pool empties, you get double cubes! Enjoy! Hyper Cube Rush is only available for pre-Infinite-ranked matches for players who’ve completed the Recruit Pass. Hyper Cube Rush events end when you earn all available bonus cubes, reach Infinite, or the event timer expires.

Team Clash returns from July 6 to July 12 with the new S4 card, Tombstone, available to earn on the reward track. Choose your team, customize your deck, and stack up on season-exclusive rewards.

A specialty Grand Arena opens its doors from July 22 to July 27 with a mash-up between Grand Arena and Sanctum Showdown: pick a champion, build a deck around them, and earn the new S4 card Spider-Sense on the reward track with Sanctum Scoring! It’s Grand Arena meets Sanctum Showdown in this limited-time special event!

A ‘SPIDER’ TOURNAMENT IS COMING!

The most recent Golden Gauntlet completely FILLED UP! We loved that so much that we’re bringing a new tournament style to fill the gap between Gauntlets! To celebrate, we’ve spun up some special twists!

First, we really wanted to make this standalone tournament feel fresh, so we’re updating the ban list from Snowball Showdown to encourage creativity and off-meta deckbuilding!

New Season: Marvel Beach Bash

School’s out, the sun is up, and MARVEL SNAP is heading straight for the shoreline. This season, some familiar faces are trading the battlefield for the beach with new cards, new events, fresh albums, and a month full of ways to jump in and make a splash.

GOLDEN GAUNTLET 2026

The next Golden Gauntlet Qualifier takes place on Saturday, June 6. Registration is free, open to all players, and starts on May 29. The tournament will also be broadcast live on Twitch, making it a great way to tune in and earn rewards!

Balance Update: May 07, 2026

5/7 OTA PATCH NOTES

Hey folks! Given how much last week’s OTA shook up the meta, this will be a pretty straight forward update.

We’ll just be making some simple buffs today. We expect that the metagame is going to take some time to settle, but it’s likely that things will return to more standard fare in a few weeks.

ARES

[Old] 4/6 – On Reveal: Compare the Power of the top 3 cards of both decks. If your total is higher, +6 Power.

[Change] 4/6 > 4/7

Likely our largest potential shake up this week. Ares and Surtur haven’t been strong for some time given the more combo nature and over the top potential of the last few months. We expect Surtur can naturally reappear in the metagame given recent nerfs and this is a small nudge towards those decks. While we also generally don’t like Surtur decks being one of the strongest strategies, we think this is a reasonable place to put a Power given how suppressed they’ve been for some time.

SILVER SAMURAI

[Old] 4/5 – On Reveal: Each player discards the lowest-Power card from their hand.

[Change] 4/5 > 4/6

Similarly, this is a fairly modest upgrade to the symmetrical discard decks with Black Bolt and Stature. Those decks haven’t had any kind of metagame presence in some time, so this is another opportunity for players who enjoy those strategies to re-engage.

STARHAWK & KRAGLIN

Starhawk [Old] 2/2 – On Reveal: +1 Power to your cards at the left location if it’s an odd turn, otherwise give to the right location.

These are a couple of recent releases from the Guardians season that haven’t gotten a lot of love. We want to make sure that as many of our cards as possible can be competitively viable, so given the gap between now and their release we feel comfortable giving Starhawk and Kraglin both a point of Power.

Both of these cards ask quite a lot of you and again given their prolonged lack of play, we are happy to give them another point.

Balance Update: April 30, 2026

Hey folks, today is going to be a large shake up. We’ve had three major headliners that the community has long voiced concerns about. We’re going to be taking action against all three today in an effort to improve metagame diversity, particularly amongst high-energy cards in Snap. While the raw win rates of these cards haven’t proven problematic enough for us to take immediate action, their high and sustained win rates for as long as they have has nudged us towards action.

This isn’t typically how we’d like to balance cards, but we do want to be receptive to community sentiment, and there has been consistent feedback that players aren’t having as much fun as they could. That necessitates action.

 

Shou-Lao the Undying

  • [Old] 5/6 – On Reveal: Give the last character you played +3 Power for each turn you played 2 or more cards.
  • [New] 5/8 – On Reveal: Give the last character you played +2 Power for each turn you played 2 or more cards.

 

Star-Lord, Master of the Sun

  • [Old] 5/8 – On Reveal: Next turn, you get +1 Energy for each turn you’ve ended with unspent Energy. This gains that much Power.
  • [New] 5/7 – On Reveal: Next turn, you get +1 Energy for each turn you’ve ended with unspent Energy.

 

Fin Fang Foom

  • [Old] 7/10 – On Reveal: Gain the Power of front-row enemy cards here.
  • [New] 7/12 – On Reveal: Gain the Power of a front-row enemy card here.

We’ll start from the top. This Shou-Lao change might appear modest. Our goal with this change is to reduce Shou-Lao’s ability to multiplicatively scale with other power buffing cards. This should dramatically reduce Shou-Lao’s ceiling, helping to reduce cascading scaling across multiple card interactions while still keeping it a strong payoff with investment.

Our previous Star-Lord nerf to 5 Energy got his win rate into a space that we were happy with. That said, his play rate has still been high enough that we don’t feel comfortable long-term. Similar to Shou-Lao, we’re making this change to reduce Star-Lord’s total effectiveness when copied by removing his ability to gain additional power. This should allow Star-Lord to retain his fantasy of generating a massive amount of Energy, but now players will have to put in far more effort into actually generating enough points to get over the finish line from that large burst of Energy.

In that vein, it will be a little bit more difficult to simply play Fin Fang Foom and expect him to win his location every time. Now that Fin Fang Foom doesn’t affect the entire front-row, we expect him to be a much less reliable card for solo-ing locations, as well as allowing more room in the metagame for players to play different top-end Energy cards when they’re ramping or considering other interactions with cards like Stryfe.

 

Agony

  • [Old] 1/3 – After you play a card here, merge this into it.
  • [Change] 1/3 > 1/2

Unfortunately, Agony has been a difficult card to balance precisely because of its ability to multiplicatively scale other cards. It has been a very strong card for some time, and we believe it will be blocking to the future of cards who buff other cards. As a result, we’re moving Agony back down to 2 Power.

 

Invisible Woman First Steps

  • [Old] 3/3 – Activate: This turn, your End of Turn abilities happen twice.
  • [New] 3/3 – Activate: This turn your End of Turn abilities repeat.

This is a subtle text change alongside other functional changes to eliminate the ability to exponentially scale doubling effects with Wong, Onslaught, etc. Now these cards will produce an additional instance of whichever effect their ability targets instead of allowing them to compound and keep doubling. In most use cases these effects will not change, but it allows us to better control their potential for absurd ceilings that can quickly shoot far past the point outputs of any other type of effects in the game.

Captain Marvel

  • [Old] 4/5 – At the end of the game, move to a location that wins you the game. (If possible)

Maria Hill

  • [Old] 1/2 – Add a random 2-Cost card to your hand.

Martyr

  • [Old] 1/5 – At the end of the game, move to a location that LOSES you the game. (If possible)
  • [Change] 1/5 > 1/6

Some small number changes to cards that can support it. Notably, with Captain Marvel and Martyr, these are a few instances where we felt the card could pick up a 6th Power, if folks might be interested in playing them with Shadowlands Daredevil.

 

Archangel, Horseman of Death

Finally, a fairly large buff to Archangel. While this card has the ability to put out really large numbers for its Energy Cost, it is asking a fairly unique thing from Destroy players that often doesn’t line up with the primary gameplan or the way the deck is built. We hope that this potential for such an efficient 2-Cost card can nudge folks to try him out more.

Balance Update: April 16, 2026

Welcome to this week’s balance changes! We’ve got some buffs to underperforming new cards, a few nerfs and buffs, and some structural changes to cards that reference low and high cost cards. Let’s dive right in!

Wolverine, Horseman of War

[Old] 4/3 – Objective: This has 5 or more Power -> Give one of your cards at each location +3 Power. (3/5)
[Change] +3 Power > +4 Power

This version of Wolverine hasn’t quite been as effective as we’d like, so we’re juicing up his Objective payoff. In testing, we’d thought that a 4/12 that can spread Power and has added synergy with cards that like Power increases would be strong enough, but that hasn’t quite turned out to be the case in practice. We considered adjusting the card’s base Power (and adjusting the threshold accordingly), but ultimately decided to put more emphasis on the payoff.

Techno-Organic Virus

[Old] 1 – On Reveal: Copy this to your hand with +2 Cost. Infect your other cards here. (replace their text)
[Change] +2 Cost > +1 Cost

Techno-Organic Virus has also turned out to be a bit weak, so we’ve elected to make it easier to replay the card and infect more of your board. This card is a bit tricky to buff, as any change in the Power it gives has a really large compounding effect, so our most effective lever is the Cost of the card. Hopefully this makes it easier to build your Techno-Organic army!

Moondragon

[Old] 2/2 – End of Turn: +2 Power if you played 1 card this turn and spent all your Energy.
[Change] 2/2 > 2/1

Chamber

[Old] 2/2 – Activate: +2 Power for each 5-Cost or higher card you have here and in hand.
[Change] 2/2 > 2/1, “higher” -> “more”

Moondragon and Chamber both punch well above their weight for just 2 Energy in a deck that’s currently one of strongest in the meta. Both of these cards have found really consistent ways to effectively scale up their Power, so we’re toning down their baseline a bit to hopefully bring them more in line with the rest of the playing field.

Ka-Zar

[Old] 4/5 – Ongoing: Your 1-Cost cards have +1 Power.

Odin

[Old] 6/9 – On Reveal: Repeat the On Reveal abilities of your other cards here.

Bucky Barnes

Black Bolt

[Old] 5/7 – On Reveal: Discard the card that costs the least from your opponent’s hand.

We’ve got a number of other buffs before we move onto a more structural change.

Ka-Zar hasn’t seen much success lately and has been outcompeted by other wide board strategies, so we’re giving this classic card a little boost.

Another classic, Odin, is receiving a small bump to double digit power to help support a range of On Reveal decks.

Bucky’s change is largely targeted towards decks that resurrect destroyed cards like Morgan Le Fay, but will give a bit more Power when Venom’ed too.

Finally, while we don’t often push opponent discard strategies too hard, Black Bolt has been weak enough for long enough that we’re happy to give him a small buff.

We’re changing a number of cards and locations to line them up with Chamber’s structure for cleaner text boxes. Abilities that previously referenced 1, 2, and 3 cost cards will now look for “3-Cost or less”, whereas those that referenced 4, 5, and 6 cost cards will now look for “4-Cost or more”.

We expect many of these changes to be relatively neutral in strength, but some cards like US Agent, Goose, and Man-Thing will benefit from a wider targeting net.

Hela – Now picks targets as she resurrects them, rather than picking them all at once at the start.
If you have a Ghost Rider (4-Cost) and 2 Hulks (6-Cost) in your discard pile, previously Hela could revive Ghost Rider and whiff on reviving a Hulk when Ghost Rider resurrects the one she picked. Now in this scenario, you’ll always get Ghost Rider and both Hulks granted you have enough space.

Objective introduces a brand-new way to play MARVEL SNAP. This new keyword gives you a quest to chase down in the middle of the match, rewarding you with powerful effects once you complete it. If the Objective card is in play, the game will resolve all other effects, then check to see if the Objective is complete. If the conditions are met, the ability will trigger (once per game).

This season, we pay tribute to the mythic beasts whose flames shaped worlds, forged legends, and ignited warriors destined for greatness. These… are the Dragons.

SEASON PASS

The ancient dragon of K’un-Lun and the source of the Iron Fist itself. Shou-Lao arrives as this season’s Premium Season Pass card. His power is immeasurable, his flame eternal. Those who channel his energy become legends. Purchase the Super Premium Season Pass and you’ll obtain the Dragon of the Moon Variant from Joshua Raphael.

LIMITED TIME GAME MODES

 

High Voltage: Overdrive is back, and better than ever. We’ve sped up the animations in-game to keep the game times faster, and slightly reduced the energy output to keep boards from getting too full too quickly. In addition, the event will now be offering a Premium Pass in addition to its regular reward track offerings to bring it more in line with recent game mode economies.

Sanctum Showdown returns! Your favorite mind-bending location dominating limited time game mode is back January 28 – Feb 4th at the daily reset. This event will be cosmetics only, but features Portal Pull Variants from James Ryman, Derrick Chew, and Ben Harvey!. The Sanctum shop will remain open for two full days at the conclusion of the event.
